Benahavís has a new General Plan for Urban Planning after 15 years of processing. The Provincial Planning Commission approved on Wednesday 14 November 2018 the definitively 92 percent of the document, which will take effect in about two weeks as soon as the deficiencies detected in urban matters are corrected.

The registration and publication of the Plan is subject, by the Board, to the City Council to correct these deficiencies, a task that, according to Benahavís municipal sources, will be carried out within a maximum period of 15 days as they do not present major difficulties.

With the approval of the Plan, which culminates a work of about 15 years since the revision work began, Benahavís will be able to raise some 2,000 new homes, which will mean an increase of more than 10 percent over the current allocation.

The approved Plan places Benahavís as one of the municipalities in the province of Malaga with the largest amount of equipment and public green areas, since 30 percent of the total is reserved for that purpose, according to sources from the technical team. who have worked on the revision of the document. Most of the new homes that can be built are from the high-end sector, which will consolidate Benahavís as the leading municipality in luxury homes in Andalusia
